Laurent possesses a massive amount of spirit energy/magic powers because he shares a soul with a djinn, Marid. Said powers are usually under control, but spiritual beings (Angels, gods and that sort of creatures) are able to sense it, even when he is not in his djinn's form.

If you char fall into the supernatural category feel free to sense that magic trail he leaves wherever he is. If you char is a vampire, just let you know that Laurent/Marid's blood is poisonous to them.
